J'ai le Coltrane live at the village vanguard de 66 et OM de 67. Disons que je n'ai pas de plaisir a écouter ces disques qui restent dans les rayons. ça me saoule soyons clair. Alors que dans les barrissements, j'adore le premier Akosh Unit Imafa. allez savoir

Une fois qu'on a dit "on aime/on aime pas" , on dit quoi ?

En général lorsque j'aime du premier coup c'est pas forcément bon signe
C'est souvent qu'il n'y a rien à creuser, que cela ne pas très loin...
Enfin cela m'a souvent fait cela pour les oeuvres un peu complexes, Bartok, Stravinsky ou d'autres...(il me faut du temps)
Mais je ne suis pas un musicologue averti...pour juger de la qualité des oeuvres non plus

Quand on aime en général un musicien  on peut quand même passer à côté d'une partie de ses enregistrements lorsqu'on les entend pour la première fois, il faut parfois ne pas hésiter à y revenir .

Perso la photo je m'en fous un peu
Par contre j'aurais aimé que la musique me "scandalise" ou m'étonne à la hauteur de ce provoque chez vous la photo.
J'ai écouté ce Live in Europe" sur Deezer, j'ai quelques albums de MG.
Et j'en pense à peu près la même chose que pour DK pour la plupart de ses albums.

Bonnes musiciennes, du talent mais j'aurais aimé qu'elles se mettent un peu plus en danger. C'est agréable à écouter certes mais un peu trop convenu et sage à mon gout. Bref je trouve qu'elles gaspillent un peu le don que la nature leur a donné et c'est un peu dommage...

Loin s'en faut.
Nous n'avons pas les mêmes oreilles ni les mêmes épidermes, apparemment.
La comparaison avec DK est facile et totalement à côté. Suffit de la voir en concert pour s'affranchir des discussions de comptoir.

Il n'est pas non plus nécessaire de faire autre chose que ce que l'on sais créer mais sortir de temps en temps de sa zone de confort peut être enrichissant et intéressant pour soi...et les autres

Je prend souvent exemple de ce que j'ai vécu en découvrant ZAPPA vers mes 15 ans, c'est un ami qui m'a offert "ROXY AND ELSEWHERE" que j'ai écouté des dizaines de fois en me disant que ç'était vraiment bizarre comme musique et puis un moment j'étais piqué à ZAPPA, je n'avais pas encore découvert mais j'allais le faire, l'univers de ce monsieur qui allait me surprendre plus d'une fois ! Et que j'adore encore aujourd'hui !
ça été pareil avec LIGETI, VARESE, BOULEZ, XENAKIS...voilà des compositeurs que j'écoute rarement mais qui m'enchante encore aujourd'hui

au Jazz Festival de Strasbourg pour Mélody  , parfaitement    ; pour Diana non , car elle demandait à l ' époque 150 000 €  et même avec 2000places , sauf à vendre des billets à 100 € , on bouclait pas . Le plus déçu c ' était PéPé qui aurait fait le déplacement à Strasbourg pour Diana ( et me rencontrer )  , et c ' est là que de rage il m ' a traité de " renifleur de petites culottes " ; toujours cette délicieuse délicatesse .
Depuis ,il s' est consolé avec Phil Minton , preuve que la déception de ne pas avoir pu voir Diana à dû être rude .

Le festival de Jazz dont vous parlez est peut être "JAZZ D'OR" !?  
On a eu d'autres stars...cette année j'ai eu la chance d'écouter FRED HERSCH par exemple...Si c'est pas une pointure ce gars là alors j'ai rien compris...quelle délicatesse dans son jeu, et son trio est franchement magnifique je trouve !

I watched all the time the discussions, don't worry. In the last days I see the atmosphere was becoming a little bit quiet, and I said, finally, it's my time to intervene in this topic.

After I received the approval to write in English, here I am! For sure will be guys which will dislike this, but that's it. For them, please ignore my posts. I don't like to enter in the conflicts, unlike some of you which adore this. But I like to be part of it, even on the side, as spectator. You are adorables. And this is only one of the many reasons I would like to be part of your family.

A short story now...If you believe it or not, till November 2013 I never had an amplifier in my life. And I'm already in my forties. I bought at the time a complete audio system, used of course. Still have the old McIntosh cd-player (MCD7009). Somewhere in 2014 I bought my first tube component, the Manley Snapper monoblocks. Since then, the madness started! I'm completely addicted right now, a tube maniac. I have only 26 tubes in my system . And not only this. In the last 3 years I bought almost 1000 tubes, mainly preamp type (ECC81-82-83, E188CC, E80CC, E88CC, 6SN7...), but not only (EL60, EL34, GZ34...). I can say I'm a serious collector. If in the beginning I bought quite many "normal" tubes, in the last period I was looking only for the special ones (from the '50s are the best). You know, they must have square or D-getter, welded plates, pinched waist, prototypes...

I have to calm down a little bit with the tubes right now, because on the horizon are new objectives : the vinyl journey and not only. Don't bought yet a phono or vinyls. I have to recover a little bit. After I had a long discussion with a friend of mine, a repectable melomane and audiophile, I cannot ignore yet the cd's in the ecuation. He's a "vinyl guy", but after him, the cd's still have an important part in the audiophile world. Right now I'm in talks with a guy, which sell an important collection of cd's (more than 300) and LP's (around 100), all clasiccal music, released 25-30 years ago by the most important disc manufacturers at the time (RCA Victor, Telarc, Harmonia Mundi, Erato, Decca, Virgin, Teldec, EMI, Sony, Philips, Chandos, Archiv...). If I'll buy this collection (around 450 titles), I'll be in business. Time will see.

Some of you were dismayed by my decision to buy a turntable without having any LPs. Sorry, but I don't had the chance to grow up in a family where the turntable was present. Maybe was a better idea to buy first like 200 vinyls and then to look to a TT? I don't think so. And like somebody mentioned, when you starting from ZERO, you have nothing. Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Yeah, good question. I don't want to be trendy, my ears decide for me. And my soul. Since I like the Harbeth sound and the tubes, you don't think a source which offer analog sound will be next in the equation? And I don't say the vinyl it's the only way. There is outstanding cd-players, to don't talk about the reel-to-reel tape recorders.

I had some good experiences with vinyl as a source. I'm not so much into the classical music (mostly jazz for the moment), but after some listening sessions (classical vinyl), my ears and my soul told me this is the way to enjoy a lot, also this type of music.

Man, this is the main problem. Writing long messages in French. You'll learn better the English after reading my posts, and I'll learn a better French reading your messages. I'm not an English expert, but everything it's much easier. Believe it or not, all my softwares and the default language for everything (computer, phone, electronics, camera...) is English.

You talk about cd's or LP's here? Good quality jazz vinyls are really expensive indeed. We'll compensate with cd's. Finally I think I'll start with a simple Diafan as phono. The tubes addiction is here. Not really necessary to pass to MC so quickly. My bet is a MM vintage cartridge. An AUDIO-TECHNICA AT-ML170 will be very nice for the beginning . Just to find the good one for the right price. There is no rush.
